What does Christchurch, New Zealand have in common with Bilbao, Cape Town, Bordeaux, Mainz, Florence, Porto, Mendoza and San Francisco ? Fair enough and congratulations to Christchurch. Somehow Christchurch does not conjure up and image of a Wine Capital. Marlborough, Hawkes Bay, Otago, even Martinborough or even Waipara.
These are New Zealand's "wine captials."
I have visited San Francisco. I also wouldn't consider it a "wine captial." Sonoma or more probably the Napa I would.
It all seems to be a matter of semantics, and Take the point however they're not cities in the sense Christchurch is. Guess it depends on what you're looking for.
